Dr. W. W. Jonathan Park loves being an orthodontist! He enjoys all aspect of orthodontics, especially seeing beautiful smiles on his patients. He has been creating smiles that one can be confident in since 2001. He is honest and caring and always puts his patients first. His orthodontic treatment plan for his patients starts from the patient’s chief concerns and takes into consideration facial aesthetics, growth of patient, size of teeth, and gingival health of the patient.
Dr. Park graduated from University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry with minor in Japanese. After graduating from college, he worked at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals contributing to the research in fight against herpes.
Dr. Park then earned a Doctorate in Dental Medicine from University of Pennsylvania. While in dental school, he received many honors including the memberships in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, national dental honor society indicating the highest possible honor given to a graduating dental student and Matthew Cryer Honor Society. He also received scholarships from William Goldman Foundation, Rabinowitz Scholarship and American Dental Association’s Dental Student Scholarship. During dental school, he completed an externship in the oral surgery in Parkland Memorial Hospital in University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He also completed an externship in pediatric dentistry in Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA. He then completed one year post doctoral residency in general dentistry at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, PA.
Dr. Park continued his education by pursuing a specialization in orthodontics and earned a joint Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, PA According to the American Dental Association, only about six percent of dentists complete this advanced specialty training and education to become an orthodontist. During his residency, Dr. Park conducted and published original research entitled, “Temple Smile Index: Development of an Esthetic Index for Objective Evaluation of Smile.”
Dr. Park is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics and an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and Damon Study Club. He keeps current with the latest technology in orthodontics by attending continuing education courses regularly. He is certified Invisalign provider and uses the latest Damon bracket System to bring out the best smile possible in each one of his patients. He also uses TAD (temporary anchorage devise) to facilitate orthodontic treatment.
Dr. Park grew up in Philadelphia but followed the sun to Phoenix. He lives with his wife, Tiffany and their dogs, Tazmanian, Toto and Tinkerbell. He is dedicated to the community and frequently speaks to local schools about dental health. He also supports numerous school and community activities and sponsors children’s sports teams.
